Our professional-quality pruner powers through stems and light branches up to 1 in. diameter. Infused with avant-garde Scandinavian style, our Quantum Pruner integrates only the highest-grade materials with Scandinavian design innovations for performance, comfort and lasting quality traditional hand pruners can’t match. A fully hardened, precision-ground blade made from premium European steel makes clean cuts and stays sharp. Rust-resistant, low-friction blade coating makes cutting easier and prevents the blade from gumming up. Tough, all-natural cork handle pads reduce weight, offer a comfortable grip and absorb jarring vibrations. An aluminum alloy handle reduces weight even further without sacrificing durability, and variable blade tension makes it easy to adjust our Quantum Pruner to your needs.

At first glance, this is expensive...until I realized that the Fiskar Quantum products have lifetime warranties (as compared to standard 90-day warranties on the less expensive products). And the action, weight, sharpness and comfort is better than any pruner I have ever used. It sliced through a 1/2" diameter bough like a hot knife through butter. Given the obvious quality and cork handles, it's such a handsome tool I almost hate to get it dirty! Highlighting the attributes (per the Fiskar packaging): - Polymer Blade Coating: for superior corrosion resistance and reduced friction - Aluminum Alloy: lighter and stronger than steel - Premium European Steel blades: Tempered...treated...ground to precision edge - All natural cork handles: soft, shock-absorbing, sustainable and renewable - Blade Tension Dial: adjusts for hand strength or different materials All that is pretty self-explanatory...and better be....aside from the mounting card, there are no clear instructions explaining the blade tension dial (it might be that puzzling tiny picture on the card?) Best I can tell, by pushing in a button on the dial-face and using a hex wrench on the pivot bolt, the blades can be tightened or loosened (the button pops out when the next "stop" occurs). I don't see much use for the dial now, but, since bypass pruners tend to loosen with time, it seems like it will serve to re-tighten the blades as needed. There's a thumb safety slide in a convenient location; perhaps a little too convenient if it closes inadvertently with use. If the blades don't maintain their sharpness and resistance to rust with time, I might feel there are much less expensive options that work just as well. But, you won't find a better looking and higher quality addition to your gardening tools!

Pros Functionality, Sharp, Great Quality, lifetime warranty Cons expensive
