      • Ultra thin but frizzes up

I bought this product to fix some of the pesky cracks above my doors and windows from where the house has settled over the years. I filled the crack with an elastomeric compound first and then taped over the crack. I spread a layer of mud over it, let it dry and then when I lightly sanded over it with a drywall sanding block, the tape 'frizzed up' and stuck through the mud. Before this, I noticed that the tape would frizz at the ends when I cut it with the scraper tool against the wall. It seems like it is impossible to sand down the dry mud over this tape without having it poke through. I planned on doing 3 coats like the book said, but each time this seemed to happen. It was literally impossible to even lightly sand the dry mud to smooth the patch without having this tape poke through in places because it seems to almost come apart and frizz when the wet mud touches it. Maybe it was my technique, but I won't use this again. I ended up having to touch up spots manually with the mud and try to use the scraper to place it over the parts that poked out evenly enough that I wouldn't have to sand over it. It doesn't look perfect, but is as good as its going to get. In the future, I will repair the cracks without the tape and hope it doesn't re-occur for a while. At least it won't look as sloppy as having a few spots where the tape constantly frizzes up out of. Just getting this tape off the spool without it breaking apart and leaving long strands hanging is tough.

Pros Easy to Apply Cons Difficult to Clean, frizzes up under mud
