Plastic Toilet Shims (4-Pack)

A:  I installed several of these shims under my toilet on an unlevel Mexican tile. I placed the thin edge of several shims at different locations around the front and sides of the toilet base. I gently tapped each shim with a hammer (tap very, very, very lightly) to make certain the shim will hold. Then score each shims with a box cutter to remove the excess shim. And finally, caulk the front and sides only leaving the back open. The caulking should hide the shims if you trimmed the shims short enough.  Good Luck

A:  Id shim base and then seal. But, this is not my area of knowledgwe.

A:  Allocate at least 2 hours to the job. It can sometimes take longer, depending on a lot of factors.

A:  Maybe an hour or two but but it's nothing to be afraid of.

A:  Hard plastic

A:  Very hard Plastic.

A:  Well, it depends what the new toilet comes with. If its a new toilet, in the box there is usually a new wax ring and a new set of flange bolts. If its a used toilet, you will need both of those.

A:  Most new toilets come with the parts you need. If you have to buy the parts then buy toilet flange bolts with nuts and cosmetic covers and a wax ring assembly. You should also purchase a package of plastic shims to level the toilets if necessary.
