Socket Set Screws are headless screws that are fully threaded with a recessed hex drive. Used to fasten in confined areas where the head must be below or flush with the surface, they can be fastened with an Allen key. The flat point design is intended for resetting or relocating often, a semi-permanent application.
Q:i'm looking for a 1/4-40 set screw, bolt or cap screw - if it has a nut with it, it's better - i'd the the bolt or set screw to be at least 1 inch long but could accept if it was 1/2 inch long.
the description says this is a coarse plain set screw but 40 threads per inch is a fine thread

It's a set screw. How much is there to say about it. Threads fit the tapped hole and socket fit the Allen wrench. Length was as published.
BUT.... the advert wasn't particularly clear. I needed 2 screws and ordered 3 to have a spare on hand. I ended up with THREE packets. Each containing 3 screws for a total delivery of 9 screws. Paid for 6 more screws than I needed.
Oh well.......
