Q:Hi, Can you put glass in fire pit instead of using the lava rocks? thank you!
by|Apr 25, 2017

Answer This Question
A: Absolutely! The best way to do this is to add the glass over the lava rocks. The flame needs to stay oxygenated and the glass alone is a little too dense. Find more details on the process here https://goo.gl/qysh5Y, or you can call us at 1.866.771.2663 M-F from 8 am - 4:30 pm PST. Stay warm!

Not all it's described to be.
Regarding recommending the product, this is definitely a "yes, but..." The entire system is great, and I think that a total novice, non-DIYer would love it, particularly if you are going to place on an already level concrete form. The "not all it's described to be" is really regarding the "bricks". I guess, technically, they're brick, as are Legos. But when I see the word "brick", I think of a masonry-based product like a paver or retaining wall brick. These things are super lightweight, they almost feel like polystyrene - they're not, they just have that kind of heft. It's a you are that housewife who likes doing handy stuff and wants a simple project to surprise your hubby, mom who wants to do it for her kids, or just someone who doesn't feel like hauling 36 masonry retaining wall bricks, you'll like the lightweight nature of this product. If you want/need a rugged fire pit, you'll need to modify this. I went and bought retaining wall bricks. You could also use sand in between the supplied "bricks" to stabilize them. If you don't stabilize with sand or something, the bricks will move if someone rests their feet on the edge. I stepped on one of the "bricks" and it cracked. Maybe I could lose 10-12 lbs, but at 5'10" and 178#, I'm not exactly obese.
The knock on the "bricks aside", it works great. It lights easily, provides quite a nice bit of warmth, and just looks great in the back yard. The kids were roasting marshmallows that very night. Like I said, I replaced the bricks, but that was personal preference. I think that with the masonry bricks, this thing will last many years.

Hi Dave, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that the provided bricks did not meet your expectations. They are made of Envirostone, which is an inorganic fire-resistant material, it is heat resistant and lightweight, perfect for all user types. We're glad to know you are enjoying it nonetheless, if there is anything we can help with, feel free to call us at 1.866.771.2663 Monday - Friday from 8 am - 4:30 pm PST. Have a great weekend!

Kathrina, we are terribly sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your purchase. Please ensure there are no gas leaks and that you are operating it with a 20 lb. propane tank, as anything less or more will alter the heat output. To learn more, please give us a call at 1.866.771.2663 M-F from 8 am - 4:30 pm PST, or you can always email us at Happy2Help@Bondmfg.com. We hope this helps!

The bricks are hollow and very weak. I put a little weight on one while installing and my hand went right through it. Luckily, I was able to use this one in the middle so you can't see the hole. The "bricks" have no registration feature so it is very difficult to keep it circular. I may go get some RTV or something to bond them together. Any time you touch it all the bricks move so it is a constant battle to keep it looking nice. Lastly, the picture shows it looking more grey, but mine is actually more of an orange color.
Also, after only 2 weeks (in Seattle granted), it is already starting to rust. If it is not designed to withstand the elements, it should not be sold as an outdoor firepit. I can see this firebowl being in the trash in a couple years.
It is a very large box and I already tossed all the packaging. Otherwise I'd probably take it back.
