Q:Is this paint steam resitant for my steam shower ceiling?
      by|Jan 18, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Envy, thank you for your question. As it turns out, our products are not designed to be steam-resistant, and we do not recommend our Ultra Ceiling Paint for steam rooms. In this case, it may be best to reach out to your local Home Depot for more information about a specialized product that will work best for your project. Have a great day!

I had one gallon of this Behr Ultra Pure White Ceiling Paint and was able to do one and a half coats on my previously dark ceiling. I thought that I could finish the second half of the second coat with some Dutch Boy that I had leftover from another project. The quality was a night and day difference. The Dutch Boy was thinner and had a darker, greyer finish than the Behr. I had to go back out to Home Depot and buy a second gallon of Behr Ultra to finish the job.

          Not white at all
Wanted to refresh a very white bathroom ceiling for a new family member moving in. Previously painted white with Sherwin Williams about 15 years ago and while it looked fine I thought it should be refreshed. Should have left it alone. It is not white and the few spots I see I missed are quite obvious that the paint has some tint to it. Was going to paint the whole house soon and I won't be buying this again. Have to go to SW now, and get some white ceiling paint. Behr made the whole room look dull. And yes I stirred the paint.

Hi Carm, thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear that the color didn’t turn out as expected. Painter's White is a tinted white, which may be why the color was darker than expected. It is a great idea to sample colors first. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Good coverage.
Good coverage, minimal drip was easy to apply with a roller and dried quickly. I would use this again as it only needed 1 coat

I had this paint tinted Painters White PPU-018 and painted my ceiling. It doesn't quite hide a beige color in one coat. No matter how meticulous I tried to cover it, I always had to go back and apply a second coat. Overall the paint quality is nice, low oder and fast dry. Easy clean up.

            Perfect ''stain blocking''......
Excellent coverage and one coat did the job. Was painting a ceiling where there had been water infiltration a couple years back and there was a very large stain that was very noticeable. Popcorn ceiling was a bit damaged but repairs went well and once painted nothing showed. Only downside (which is not a big one) is that it took one and a half gallon to paint 250 square feet.

Spotty outcome even after following all directions to produce a good job. Using a paint and primer mixed together produces a poor outcome. I’ve painted ceiling in my home in the pass with no problem. I am now left with a ceiling that has to some how be reworked. ( and yes I used two coats and left the first coat dry for 24 hours.

            Wasn't White!
Not sure if I got a bad batch, but I had to redo the entire ceiling. The paint was not white, it was grayish. Had to redo it with Sherwin Williams Ceiling paint.

Hi Notwhitepaint. Thank you for your review. I'm so sorry the white color looked gray on your ceiling. I recommend recoating the ceiling in a new color and testing it in a small area to ensure it looks just right. And it sounds like you were already able to do that. Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team directly for further assistance. Streaky and inconsistent application
I have no purchased and gone through 4 gallons of this paint and regret every buying it. The primer that is supposedly in the paint really does nothing. I have painted ceilings upstairs in my home with much better coverage, and using much less paint, with other brands. I have applied two coats of this paint to my ceilings and still see considerable streaking. The previous color was a yellowed white thus not sure why this paint had such a difficult time covering. Waste of time and money.

                Peeling after applied
We scraped the popcorn off and used this behr ultra for primer and top coat- Three days later we noticed peeling in several spots . I will confirm with the painter, but i understood they just used water and scraped the popcorn off.

Hi Jax, thanks for the review. I'm sorry to hear that our Ultra Ceiling Paint is starting to peel in several spots. This is not typical, and I can understand your disappointment. I recommend removing the loose coating, scuff sanding and cleaning the surface before reapplying more of the ceiling paint. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback.
