The BEHR DECKplus Semi-Transparent Waterproofing Wood Stain is a 100% acrylic stain for all wood types. This stain adds beauty while allowing the natural wood grain to show through. The stain also provides a durable, water-repellent finish that also protects against the sun's harmful UV rays.

Nice paint, but bad color

We painted our deck recently, and while the paint was easy to apply and seems to wear well, the color is very far off from what is shown online. In person, it is much much lighter and redder. In the sun it appears baby pink. I've attached a photo of when just the railings were painted so you can see the comparison between the paint and our natural wood deck. We honestly do not like the color, but are unwilling to repaint the entire deck now. Just wanted to warn others!

Transformed our deck

We used Cordova Brown on our unfinished “new” deck that we finished about 2 years ago. We had trouble deciding on a color until we got a sample of this. Decided to go for it. We used a wool applicator pad and it worked well. It was challenging to go with the grain on our deck since the boards change direction every so many feet. Have a brush ready. After one coat it looked great, two coats it looked amazing. It still feels tacky a day later, maybe we are just used to the feel of unsealed wood.

Not waterproof

Home Depot employee recommended it for our new decks . Terrible recommendation . Did one coat of Pant on 1800 sq ft of decking and it came up in places when it rained so we did another coat and same thing happend we had to do another coat total of 3 coats and still not sticking . Do not buy this product. The wood was new and we did not paint over old paint .

Use primer or buy something else

Put this on a porch ceiling with new breadboard a year ago and already have to redo it. Ignore the label, use a primer that has mildewcide in it because this definitely does not. Alternatively, use a proper exterior paint because this stuff has the same consistency and peeling issues as paint, just with worse coverage and mold problems.

I'd recommend removing the coating that is peeling by pressure washing or sanding, then cleaning the surface with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner. If there is any existing mold. Then reapply either the stain, or an exterior paint. Our Deckplus Exterior Wood Stain does have a mildew-resistant finish, but will not kill existing mold. This does come out a totally different color than advertised. I added one pint of black acryllic to the 5 gallon bucket and it came out looking great.

Bleeds through solid color

Used this product to cover a swingset. Bought it tinted white for the base and grey for the roof. Both went on well and covered well. After 2-3 weeks the white started turning brown in random patches. It seems the wood might've bled through somehow.

Hello Donn, thank you for your review. I’m so sorry the stain turned brown in patches from the wood bleeding through. I recommend allowing the stain to dry 72 hours and cleaning with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner at full strength to see if that cleans the brown patches. If they’re still visible, then I recommend priming with our Multi-Surface Primer No. 436 to prevent the wood from bleeding through again and reapplying the stain.
