About This Product

Armaflex Coil is a pipe insulation system designed for convenience and labor savings, offered in continuous length coils, designed to minimize waste and reduce butt joints. The pipe insulation is tough, but flexible, elastomeric thermal insulation, black in color, supplied as continuous-length un-slit tubing in several sizes. It is manufactured without the use of CFC's, HCFC's or HFC's. It is also formaldehyde free, fiber free, dust free and resists mold and mildew. Armaflex Coil is used to retard heat gain and control condensation drip from chilled water and refrigeration systems. It also efficiently reduces heat flow on hot systems. Armaflex Coil is engineered for air conditioning applications in which speed, ease of installation, convenient handling and on-site durability are of primary importance. Armaflex Coil is acceptable for use in air plenums. Conforms to NFPA 90A and NFPA 90B requirements.

Q:Does this product have a split seam to install over the pipe or do you have to thread the pipe through the hole? Thank You...
    by|Oct 23, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  This product is not slit. You can cut it open with a non-serated knife, wrap around the pipe, and seal the seams with Armacell 520 adhesive and/or Armaflex insulation tape.

Q:I am a bit confused. Is this the right product for insulation of 3/4" diameter copper AC line? I read that the ID of this product is actually 7/8" (rather than 3/4"). Will it thus fit too loosely on the 3/4'' diameter AC line?
      by|Sep 12, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  This product will be appropriate to fit a 3/4-inch copper pipe. The insulation has a 7/8-inch inner diameter (ID), which is designed to fit a copper tube with a 7/8-inch outer diameter (OD), also commonly known as a 3/4-inch nominal ID.

It does the job but there are better options
It does work, but you need to cut open the insulation and close it... You can get everbilt self-sealing insulation for way less money, and less hassle. The everbilt comes in only 6ft pieces but in the long run is better, since you don't have to cut it open and then apply sealant tape. I should had look more before pulling the trigger on this because it could have saved me a lot of hassle when installing. Still an OK product though.

Exactly as advertised. Glad to use it. Takes time and muscle to feed 0.5” PEC through it. 100 feet is a long length.

The pipe insulation made a big improvement. I used this product to insulate a hot water line that runs the length of my unheated basement. I had to cut open a slit for the entire length of the armaflex insulation for my installation. After I put it over the hot water pipe I taped closed the slit I had created.

Was very easy to slice to insulate existing construction. Actually was better to apply on corners than straight pieces I have bought before. Very pliable !

I'm a amateur and it's the first time insulating the A/C pipe, because I didn't want to pay $500 for people to do it. It's a not easy getting around the small spaces, and it just take patience to remove the old and put on the new insulation. Make sure to get the glue that goes with it.
