A: I would presume it to be thermo plastic, just like the pump is constructed from. I don’t have a Booklet any longer, but make this presumption. You can call their a Tech Desk if you need to. It is a great pump, we use it lakeside and it performs well.

A: Hi KTKT,
It is thermoplastic.
Thanks!

A: The box contains only the pump. You will need everything to transition from your pressure tank to the pump. You will need basically the pipe and adapters to go from the pump output fitting to the pressure side of the tank.

A: You will have to determine what kind of pipe you have and then make a selection of fittings and pipe. It’s probably best to hire a professional.

Answer This Question
A: Not sure why it's says self prime because the instructions show how to prime the system before running the pump.
by|Nov 6, 2019
A: Mine self primes every time after the initial prime. You still need to prime any time you drain the system.
by|Sep 5, 2019
A: I am not aware of a self priming feature. I have installed many pumps over the years and have always manually primed each of them. It takes little time and effort and, in my opinion, is good insurance toward a good result. Hope this helps. Good luck.
by|May 5, 2023
A: Depending on your individual setup it MAY self prime BUT it’s always best to prime the pump. Adding a check valve to your system may prevent the pump from losing its prime after initial startup.
by|Sep 7, 2019
A: You have to fill it up the first time (doesn't ship with fluids), but after that it should be good to go.

After 11 years my old shallow well pump developed a fatal leak where the inlet pipe screws into the housing. It cracked, and even though I teflon taped it, glued it together and put a band clamp around the outside to hold it together, it still leaked so I replaced it with this new one and it only required tiny adjustments in the existing piping. Wiring it was a breeze. It pressurized my tank with water drawn from an underground cistern. It works like you would expect it to.

Makes a great dewatering pump to cope with a seasonal high groundwater table. I attached this pump to one of several well points installed around my basement (which used to dampen after large storms). The floor slab nominally is at -10 ft., so I drilled to -30, set the foot valve at -25 and dropped water sensors in the casing the cycle the pump from -12 ON to -15 OFF. So far, so good. I don't consume the water domestically, so there is no pressure tank. I built a simple valve manifold to selectively discharge the effluent to (1.) refill my fish pond, (2.) sprinkler my lawn and garden, or (3.) go overboard into the woods. The pump (See photo 1.) comes with an Owner's Manual. See photo 2. The pump motor is well-ventilated. See photo 3. The pressure switch and other connections are readily accessible. See photo 4. Since the pump is not inside, I will have to install a bit of a heater in its doghouse. I'd also like to join it to the other well points with loop piping. (And further plans include some remote valving (solenoid actuated irrigation valves?)). I suppose that would be easiest if I just bought four of these pumps!

Minus a couple of stars for not being self-priming and impression of build quality. Packaging suggests for use with water sources with 15' or less and we used for a lift of just a few feet from a nearby surface-water source for which our property has water rights. We protect from the elements in a small enclosure and installed using pvc pipe treaded with plenty of teflon tape and pipe dope

yojarney, Sorry to hear about your experience. The nature of a well system does not allow for a self priming pumps, those that are advertised as such still require initial priming. This pump is rated for uses in wells up to 25' in depth so it should be able to meet your draw requirements. If you need any assistance you can reach us at 844-242-2475.
Not sure about the overall quality, but the design of this pump is good. It runs 115/230v, and switching couldn't be easier - just remove the two phillips screws and cover and you'll find the voltage adjust ment switch prewired.
I did find that the connectors going to the motor were loose and needed to be closed in order to make a firm connection. With a pump drawing this kind of power, loose connections are a source of heat and possible failure.
Not the quietest pump, but it is functional providing you use it within it's constraints. The quick start guide is one of the best I've seen!

This review is on the AquaPro 1/2 HP shallow well Jet Pump. This pump is designed for drawing water from a shallow well (25 feet or less). For me this unit replaces my old pump - I get the water from a fresh water brook. The motor is pre-wired at 230 but will run at 115 or 230. It's built to last (made out of cast iron) and pretty quiet. My last one was kind of cheap made out of stainless steel and plastic and was very loud. Since this was a replacement pump for me the install was a breeze. But even it it wasn't the install is relatively easy. Make sure to prime the pump (fill with water) and read all the install instructions carefully. It works very well and you can't beat the quality for the price.

This 1/2 HP pump is a workhorse. This pump is versatile as it can be used for different applications. I installed it on a shallow well to pump and push water to a stock tank. Installation was straight forward and the instructions are more than adequate. The automatic pressure switch keeps the water pressure maintained at an optimum psi. This pump is dual voltage and can be run at 115 or 220V. Voltage can be changed with the flip of a switch. Utilizing a 1 in. pvc line this pump pushed water to a stock tank that is located approx. 1/4 mile from the well. It filled the stock tank pretty rapidly and only comes on when the float level of the tank opens the valve of the tank. This pump is cast iron and has a cooling fan. This pump would also work in a surface water application (recommend you use a strainer on the suctions side). Good price point on this pump.

I just received my AquaPro 1/2 HP Shallow Well Jet Pump. It came in a well packaged box with molded styrene foam on the ends for protection. The pump is of high quality from the cast parts to all the hardware attached. The pump has detailed instructions and a phone in hot line for help. I am setting this pump up to transfer water on my property. You can set this pump up to use 115 or 230. this is a very versatile pump and also comes with a pressure gauge.
The AquaPro 1/2 HP shallow-well jet pump is a Great Pump with a lot of pressure. This pump I installed in the boathouse to protect it from the elements, also i do not need to run special outdoor wires. I just plugged it into the outlet. The pump is used for a big 3 ft.widetub sink. for cleaning fish. We use clean sea water when we cut and rinse and the 1/2 HP does the trick. We run two wash stations so it is more than adequate. The cast iron housing is very durable for the weather and impending hurricaines. We commenly use it at 10 to 15 feet depending on the time of day, or depending on the water level at the time it may go to 10, but it is made for 25, so it is fine for that. The water is on demand so for this us. It is self priming, 110 volt outlet works just fine for us.
