A: Char, we have not conducted tests on these anchors for use with post skirts, so we cannot provide any recommendations on this installation method. Great solution to add 4X4 to concrete patio.
I have a full sized pergola that I made on a concrete patio and used brackets like these to attach it to the slab. But I need to add a few more posts in to create a railing and a raised bar on one side. These are the perfect solution for that.
They’re lightweight, but really strong, and they won’t rust. They have holes in the base to attach to the slab, or a deck. And they also have angled holes on the sides to secure the bracket to the 4 x 4.

I have a deck which was "added on" a year ago. The original posts are shorter than the new posts, and I am searching for a way of making the short ones longer. These post anchors offer a solution. They are designed so you can insert a 4x4 railing post into the cup, secure it with screws, then screw or bolt the cup to your deck. They are made of strong plastic which won't rust. As designed, you can add posts on any flat, unobstructed section of deck. The cups have drainage grooves and a hole in the bottom, so the post doesn't sit in a puddle of water. It is a pretty clever design. I did encounter a few issues with my particular installation. I want to replace old posts which are adjacent to steps - these cups won't fit. Also, if you are replacing existing posts like I am, you have to cut the old posts off perfectly flush with the deck, which is challenging to do with a saw. Overall, these cups are a great solution for mounting posts on a flat, strong deck surface.

These post anchors are the best thing ever if you are building a deck or porch. They are very heavy and given the location of the screw holes, a 4x4 post will be impossible to move once installed. I built a deck and wanted to put a railing around to keep anyone from falling off. These anchors made it an absolute breeze. I recommend getting the appropriate exterior screws that will hold up for years.

When building a deck or installing a railing on a patio etc it is not always feasible to anchor the railing posts below the deck surface so top mounting is required. These blocks allow you to surface mount the posts without using just an ugly galvanized metal Tico that you then need to make custom trim to cover up. By using darker colored screws and anchor bolts these provide a nice strong railing post that looks great too. It’s a decorative and easier solution.

I ordered two different types of bases for the posts at the corners of our front patio. The first base merely offset the wood a bit from the concrete and allowed for a piece of rebar to secure the post in place. The aecond - these bases, are by far the more sturdy of the two types. The base completely encloses the bottom of the post and allow for screws to secure the post on corners as well as one side. The post also can be secured by rebar through the center and be secured with tap con screws on the corners in the concrete. These also can be used on decks. I would not hesitate to recommend these bases. I will definitely do the job for you.

This post base is made of some really tough stuff. Some very hard but not brittle plastic. Remains to be seen how it will weather the elements over time, but initial impression of material and workmanship is very good. However, the size is way too large for a typical 4x4 post. The internal dimension is 4-5/8 inches. The typical 4x4 is usually less than 4-1/2 inches, and often only 4-1/4 inches. This creates a lot of space where I found the need to use shims in order that my screws weren't left in a gap. I want to seal these with caulking so water doesn't collect under my post and rot it away. The shims made this much easier to do.
