How do I rent trucks or tools?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which trucks or tools you can rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. Can I rent a tool by the hour?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement jobs may only require a short rental period, and long-term projects can also be accomodated. You've got options to rent tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
It's fine to return the tools early if you complete your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a pickup truck, van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before selecting a van.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
