Can I rent a moving truck?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what trucks are available for rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go moving van, flatbed truck, or pickup truck. Penske moving truck rentals and moving vans have different rules. You may also read our truck rental page to see if what you need is available at your local store.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a moving van or truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before choosing your vehicle.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. When you don't refill the rental vehicle, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
